When we think of Quebec we think poutine, Le Carnival, and their French-speaking population – which is all correct, but there is so much more to la belle province. Quebec is the largest province by land size in Canada. This is the only province that has a predominately French-speaking population. With 90% of Quebec’s geography living within the Canadian Shield makes for some of the best winter sports in the central and eastern areas of Canada.
With a population of over 8 million people, this province is the second largest based on population only to Ontario. Canada produces 71% of the world’s pure maple syrup, 91% of which is produced in Quebec. With so much maple syrup flowing throughout the province, every March and April sugar shacks across the province open their doors where thousands of locals and tourists alike sample and learn about the history of Canada’s Maple Syrup.
